The tenth week again delivered, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills demonstrating the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that draws so many people into the National Football League
This outcome may have opened opportunities for the Patriots to creep back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a schedule that gives them an edge over their eight and two rivals
Over in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to arrange a major confrontation in week 11, while our player of the week is pursuing milestones as well as the Most Valuable Player award
Analysis - Simply an Off Day for the Bills?
Could it simply have been an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City last week or something more? That's the question for the Buffalo team to address
The Buffalo squad had won seven in a row against Miami but were outperformed from the start as the Dolphins emerged as 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and performance
MVP Josh Allen only achieved the team's initial first down in the third period and first points in the fourth - yes the Dolphins had ten days to prepare but it was nonetheless a massive egg produced by one of the NFL's best offenses
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two touchdowns but rusher De'Von Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 total yards and two touchdowns
Containing the NFL's top rushing attack was crucial too, with James Cook and teammates registering just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the year and just over half their 161.5 yard season average
Additionally there were the three critical turnovers, and the two from Josh Allen specifically. An interception in the end zone resulting in a nine minute possession yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter fumble that Miami converted to seven points just later
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, falling into a hole on defensive side and Josh Allen attempting to do too much to dig his team out of it - not the calm, controlled, well-balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this year
Miami have served up a varied performances this season so the jury's out on if this is the start of something, but for Buffalo they'll require an instant response in a difficult matchup against the Buccaneers next week as the Patriots are quietly moving into a nice lead at the top of the American Football Conference East
In Focus - New England See Path to Unexpected First Place
Speaking of the Patriots, they're among three eight and two teams in the league, all American Football Conference teams, but are they the best?
One could pick holes in the Patriots, the Broncos and Indianapolis actually for dominating the weaker opponents, with just five of their combined 24 wins coming against teams with a positive record - and one of those was the Colts beating the Denver
The Broncos defeated the champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indianapolis can rely on Jonathan Taylor, but the New England including Sunday's win in Tampa to their primtime success in Orchard Park seems like a statement
Their two defeats occurred in new head coach Vrabel's initial three games, with seven consecutive wins, similar to the Broncos, since then - but taking down Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to prepare was significant
Maye's MVP claims continue to be discussed, and he definitely deserves credit for bravery after absorbing some savage hits in Tampa but hanging in there to steer his side to success
The defense is reliable and rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson exploded on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating touchdowns of 55 and 69 yards - becoming just the fifth different ball carrier to break 22 miles per hour this season on his first score
While you can debate who 'the best' is statistically, the Patriots should be favourites to finish with the best record due to their remaining opponents - which includes just one game against a winning team, albeit a huge one against Buffalo
Traveling to the Ravens is also tough, but Denver have it even tougher in the AFC West with the Kansas City to play twice, the Chargers (who might also compete for top seed but face the same problem) and also the Packers on the fixture list
The Colts also play the Kansas City, and have the Seattle, San Francisco and two matchups with the five and four Jacksonville to face. There is a long way to travel but the door is open for a surprise number one position in the AFC
Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Next Week Clash
Both squads with strong arguments to be better than all of the three different 8-2 sides are NFC West opponents the Seahawks and Los Angeles, who each scored 40 burgers to reach 7-2 ahead of next week's Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the two in LA
They've both secured four victories in a row, have quarterbacks in Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an elite level (although Darnold had ball security problems on game day) with top receivers, and defensive units allowing under 20 points a game
Each could easily be without a loss as well - particularly the Los Angeles as their pair of losses occurred in extra time against the 49ers and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a potentially winning kick with the last kick blocked and returned by the Eagles for a score
Seattle also lost to the 49ers, with a late touchdown in the opening week, before falling to the final play of the contest against the Buccaneers - so they're genuinely two of the best sides in the NFL
The next matchup on Sunday could be the most exciting of the year so far
Top Performer - Taylor
Jonathan Taylor might be on for a historic year after his remarkable performance in Germany - running for 244 yards, registering three scores and contributing an additional 42 {receiving yards
