Former Physician Faces Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences â including some against children younger than 13 â between 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, âLegal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.â
The Investigation
The charges follow what police described as a âcomplex investigationâ into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five charges include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Police have asked anyone with concerns to contact the investigating team.
