Before the show's launch, there was one particularly enthusiastic supporter. "This represents the dawn of a sort of political shift," said John Solomon. His media outlet Just the News will carry the ex-PM's new podcasts.

Building Connections in the Conservative Media Landscape

Compatriot supporters, including a pro-Reform adviser, assisted in her launch the her new show. The setup is professional, if somewhat rudimentary. She has gathered a subscriber base of 10k in her debut week and her debut garnered sixty-seven thousand views in that timeframe.

It is a modest start, but in partnering with John Solomon, the former PM is being thrust into a well-developed political media sphere generating and disseminating pro-Trump narratives. Its obsessions encompass alleged censorship by the traditional news outlets and a desire to dismantle a conspiratorial 'deep state' – a force that the ex-PM holds responsible for the abrupt termination of her short and troubled leadership.

"Solomon's outlet is not famous outside of the Maga world, but it does have credibility there, mostly due to John Solomon, who gives commentary on Maga platforms like the program hosted by Steve Bannon and has even interviewed Donald Trump," noted Professor Alex Hinton, who has analyzed the Trumpist political wave.

A Controversial Partner

The former PM's foray to transplant the pro-Trump media model to the United Kingdom has pushed her closer to contentious individuals such as John Solomon.

He founded Just the News after scrutiny when allegations surfaced of circulating misleading narratives about the President's actions in the Eastern European nation, as well as controversial stories about one-time diplomat to Ukraine.

These allegations were repeated within the pro-Trump media, with the journalist featuring as a common interviewee on the widely-watched Fox News program. Trump himself boosted the journalist's work.

He wrote the Ukraine claims in a series of columns for the outlet the political newspaper, after having been re-labelled as a columnist following internal criticism about his work. His narratives were central in the then-president's request for the Ukrainian government to investigate the Bidens in that year. Those demands led to impeachment charges targeting Donald Trump. Senators later acquitted the president.

Weeks after he exited the publication in October 2019, the news organization revealed it was carrying out a examination of his work relating to Ukrainian matters. It concluded Solomon had relied on questionable informants and said he "failed to identify key facts about primary contacts in Ukraine, such as the fact that they had been indicted or were the subject of inquiries."

Becoming Part of the Sphere

Solomon's own broadcast spots are a example of the right-wing media network Liz Truss is joining. While Truss's stilted style and political travails have been mocked within the UK, a number of stateside commentators are not discounting her efforts to reinvent herself as a UK offshoot of the Maga media.

"You have to take folks like that seriously, even if you may not want to interpret them word-for-word," commented a former Biden White House aide, who worked in the Obama White House.

"You saw how in the last election cycle Donald Trump leveraged that alternative press to disseminate his views. Undoubtedly that network exports and influences discourse overseas. It seems quite apparent to me that the environment in the United Kingdom are comparable to what permitted this non-mainstream media network to prosper in America."

Alan Finlayson, said the internet-based conservative network was already exerting influence in Britain.

"Online platforms transcends national boundaries," he said. "There exists a sort of environment within which ideas travel – sometimes taking an extreme form and other times more moderately – but which is connected."

The academic said the expansion of the digital conservative movement in the UK lately meant the "potential to have a larger effect is significant."

Cross-Atlantic Aspirations
