Los Angeles Explodes in Celebration as Dodgers Secure Back-to-Back World Series Victory
Los Angeles experienced citywide festivities after the Los Angeles Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-game World Series title. Supporters across the globe joined Angelenos in celebration, marking the initial time in 25 years that a franchise has achieved back-to-back championships.
Celebration Parade Attracts Massive Crowds
Local celebrations included a procession through the city center on Monday morning, a ticketed rally at the team's home stadium, and impromptu gatherings throughout the city.
Online footage depict countless of Los Angeles residents packing city center avenues, many displaying homemade signs and Dodger flags. The team was seen traveling proudly on a double-decker bus through the crowds, hoisting the Commissioner’s trophy high.
“I’m already thinking about the third time we’re going to do this,” the star player remarked through an interpreter.
The procession path ended at the stadium, where the players emerged to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard spinning music and Ice Cube driving a Pacific blue classic car around the stadium’s outfield.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Athlete Responses
Festivities began well before the procession, with Dodgers fans setting off fireworks in the roads of Downtown Los Angeles on the previous evening.
The World Series MVP, named the MVP of the championship, commented directly about the victory.
“Losing is not an option,” he said. “I love the Dodgers. I love Los Angeles.”
Varied Responses and City Unity
In contrast, the team owner was met with a less warm welcome at the celebration. Recordings from the event seem to depict him walking onstage to a mix of cheers and jeers, with negative shouts punctuating his speech.
The championship acted as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for the city. An approximate quarter-million people attended to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to Dodgers player Freddie Freeman, supporters this year showed as much if not more support.
“It seems it’s almost double from last year,” Freeman remarked. “The supporters are incredible. It’s so awesome to be a involved in this.”
