The Gruesome Animated Film Ending That Stays With Viewers
Among all the adult-oriented animated films I’ve personally viewed, nothing has stuck with me as much as the fear-filled ending of a viscerally violent and highly provocative film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.
Back in the year 2015, this Spain-based filmmaker developed a dark, melancholy and frequently brutal world with some tiny , forlorn glimmers of optimism.
Although Unicorn Wars appears as it originated from a drive to advance the medium even more, the filmmaker stated that it was rather an attempt to express a widespread, cross-cultural message regarding “the mutual source of each battle.”
That message is conveyed via a squad of vividly colored bears , openly modeled after a famous line of lovable figures.
Growing up in a community built around warmongering and the war machine, numerous these animals are fixated on killing unicorns, thanks to a sacred text which states the bears they previously were rulers of the woods, before the horned beings drove them out.
Some have not completely accepted the propaganda, , would rather sample drugs and engage sexually in the forest.
In contrast to their cuddly equivalents, these colorful critters show sexual organs , clear libidos.
For one notably brutal, cynical bear, the character Bluey, the conflict against unicorns becomes a route to control — and particularly to authority above his gentler, kinder brother Tubby.
Bluey is a bully , an obvious psychopath , and as terror overcomes his unit and takes his teammates individually, he grabs increasingly control on his own behalf, in increasingly gory, harmful methods.
Simultaneously, these mythical beings are suffering their own horror, through a growing, harmful creature in their woods.
“At the beginning, it appears as a lighthearted film,” the director said. “However it evolves into a more dramatic and melancholic film. And by the end, it transforms into a terrifying movie.”
Unicorn Wars begins similar to among the whimsical movies by a renowned filmmaker, that discover a wicked pleasure in permitting drawn beings curse, engage in violence, or have intimate relations.
Subsequently it evolves into more akin to a bleaker movie from that creator, featuring progressively visual gore and a palpable connection to the real horror of conflict.
In the finale, it is a full-on Grand Guignol bloodbath.
The horror that makes the film an ideal spooky-season viewing begins well before than indicated.
Unicorn Wars is ideal for the hardcore gorehounds, for enthusiasts of graphic films who want to see a movie they’ve never seen on-screen before, and are able to withstand a story that pulls unflinching brutality.
See it with the lights off free from interruptions, and that ending will crawl under your skin and take up residence there.
