Vince Gilligan Reveals He Knows How The Apple TV+ Show Will End... At the Moment.
Vince Gilligan never anticipated that his new science-fiction series would emerge as a cultural phenomenon. “The viewers have been incredible,” he states. “It was unexpected the show being as passionately debated as it is, and it makes me thrilled beyond words.”
Now that Season 1 of the hit sci-fi show wrapping up—and the next chapter greenlit and underway—Gilligan and his team reflected on the fan response and whether it will impact the storyline of Pluribus.
About the Tremendous Audience Reaction
One could easily to get sidetracked by the constant speculation and audience predictions surrounding Pluribus. He is making a conscious effort to steer clear of all that.
“The experience is akin to an endless supply of something incredibly sweet and being tickled to death,” he says. “It's amazing, but I get wind of it through word of mouth, and that's by design. Never in my life Googled myself, nor do I ever plan to. It's not a lack of interest. It's a deep trap I know I would disappear down and then I'd be never leaving the house from the hardware store and I'd be stuck in my living room.”
Despite Gilligan’s best intentions, there’s no way to avoid the extremely enthusiastic response to the series. The most practical strategy is to accept it graciously and try not to let it alter the course of the show.
“It is not our goal to change the plot,” says co-executive producer Alison Tatlock. “Our storytelling is not changed by what people are saying.”
“It's wiser to keep our noses to the grindstone,” Gilligan concludes.
The Central Mystery: Has Vince Gilligan Have a Plan for the Conclusion of Pluribus?
Considering Gilligan and his team are not listening by fan response, does it imply they already know how Pluribus will ultimately end? The answer is yes… with some caveats.
“We have some potential directions about the ultimate destination,” Gilligan reveals. “however, we remain prepared to abandon a good idea for a superior concept. That philosophy has guided us in good stead on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We change course when we find a more perfect path and I imagine we will be doing that.”
On the other hand, if plans fall through, director and writer Gordon Smith has a humorous idea to use as a backup.
“I constantly suggest that it's all in a snow globe, and that we'll pull back at the end and the characters are inside it,” he says humorously, “but no one is buying it.”
Then again, one could always use the iconic TV endings?
“I'd love for Carol to wake up in bed with Bob Newhart there,” Gilligan says with a smile.
